How we handle your information and keep things transparent
Look, we get it – nobody really enjoys reading privacy policies. But we're architects, not lawyers, so we'll try to keep this straightforward and honest. Here's how we handle your data when you work with us or just browse around our site.
When you reach out to us or start a project, we'll collect the basics – your name, email, phone number, and project address. Pretty standard stuff. If you're filling out our contact form or sending us an inquiry, that's what we need to get back to you.
For active clients, we'll obviously need more details about your property, budget considerations, design preferences, and any site-specific info that helps us do our job properly. We might also hang onto correspondence, meeting notes, and project documentation because, well, that's how architecture projects work.
Our website collects some technical data too – IP addresses, browser types, pages you visit. Nothing creepy, just standard analytics to see what's working and what isn't on our site.
Here's the deal – we use your info to actually do the work you're hiring us for. Designing your space, getting permits sorted, coordinating with contractors, keeping you updated on progress. Architecture involves a lot of moving parts.
We might send you occasional updates about our studio, new sustainable building techniques we're excited about, or portfolio pieces we think you'd find interesting. But if that's not your thing, you can opt out anytime – no hard feelings.
Sometimes we need to share project details with engineers, consultants, or contractors who're part of your team. That's just how collaborative design works, but we only share what's necessary and make sure they respect confidentiality too.
We take security seriously. Our systems use industry-standard encryption, secure servers, and we limit access to your personal information to only those team members who actually need it for your project.
All our staff sign confidentiality agreements, and we're pretty strict about it. Your project details, budget info, and personal data stay within our studio unless you've given us explicit permission to share.
That said, no system is 100% bulletproof. We do everything reasonable to protect your data, but if there's ever a breach, we'll let you know right away and walk you through what happened and what we're doing about it.
Yeah, we use cookies – not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately. They help us remember your preferences and understand how people use our site. Basic stuff like whether you've visited before, what pages you looked at, how long you stayed.
We use Google Analytics to get a sense of our site traffic and user behavior. It's aggregated data, so we're not tracking you specifically. Most browsers let you block cookies if you want, though some parts of our site might not work as smoothly.
We don't sell your browsing data to advertisers or anything sketchy like that. We're an architecture studio, not a data broker.
We love showcasing our work – it's how we attract new clients and celebrate what we've built together. But we'll always ask your permission before featuring your project in our portfolio, on social media, or in any publications.
If you give us the green light, we might photograph the completed space and use those images on our website, in presentations, or in architecture magazines. We typically won't include your name or address unless you're cool with that too.
Changed your mind later? Just let us know. We can remove project images from our portfolio, though we can't control what's already been published in third-party media.
Under Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA and all that), you've got rights. You can ask us what information we have about you, request corrections if something's wrong, or ask us to delete your data entirely.
Want to opt out of marketing emails? There's an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every message we send. Or just shoot us an email and we'll sort it out.
Keep in mind that for active or past projects, we need to keep certain records for legal and professional liability reasons – things like contracts, drawings, permits. But we won't keep more than necessary, and we definitely won't use it for anything beyond what's required.
If you've got questions about your data or want to exercise any of these rights, reach out to us at studio@pyresthalvenquinth.info and we'll handle it.
We use some third-party tools to run our business – email providers, cloud storage, project management software, that sort of thing. These companies might process your data on our behalf, but they're bound by their own privacy policies and contractual obligations to keep your info secure.
We're pretty selective about who we work with and make sure they meet Canadian privacy standards. But if you click a link that takes you to another website, that's their territory and their privacy policy applies.
Our site might have links to suppliers, manufacturers, or other architecture-related resources. We're not responsible for their privacy practices, so you'll want to check their policies if you're sharing info with them.
For general inquiries that don't turn into projects, we'll typically keep your contact info for a couple years in case you circle back to us. After that, if we haven't heard from you, we'll clear it out.
For actual client projects, we're legally required to keep project files, drawings, and correspondence for at least seven years after project completion. It's a professional liability thing – if any questions come up about the building down the road, we need those records.
Once we're past any legal retention requirements and the info's no longer needed, we'll securely delete or destroy it. We're not hoarders.
We're based in Toronto and primarily serve Canadian clients, so we follow Canadian privacy laws. However, some of the cloud services we use might store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States.
When data crosses borders, it's subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, which might be different from Canadian laws. We try to use providers with strong privacy commitments, but just so you're aware of how this works.
If you're reaching out to us from outside Canada, by using our website and services, you're consenting to your information being transferred to and processed in Canada.
We might update this privacy policy from time to time as our practices evolve or laws change. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page and make the revised policy available here.
If we make any major changes that significantly affect how we handle your data, we'll let you know directly via email if you're an active client or have subscribed to our updates.
It's worth checking back here occasionally if you're curious about any updates.
If anything here is unclear or you've got specific questions about how we handle your information, don't hesitate to reach out. We're architects, not robots – we're happy to have a real conversation about this stuff.
